A soybean candle is a type of candle that is created using Soy Wax. It is a natural and environmental friendly candle. Most candle buyers prefer this type of candle because they have characteristics that are better than regular Wax Candles. They are quite expensive, but they burn cleaner than candles made out of paraffin wax.

Learning how to make soybean candles is a great way to save money while doing something you love. It will not only give you eco-friendly candles but you can also use them as presents and products for business.

Soy wax is different from the regular paraffin wax. It is hydrogenated soybean oil. Compared to candles made from paraffin wax, soy candles produce less and cleaner soot. Large amount of soot can be very unhealthy when inhaled. This is one reason why many are interested in learning how to make soybean candles.

The process of Making Soy Candles is pretty easy especially if you are already familiar with making candles out of paraffin wax. The only difference is that you will be using soy wax instead of paraffin wax. In this process a double burner is used to melt the soy wax. A double burner is a kitchen ware that makes use of two pots. The first one is filled with water and brought to a boil, and then the other pot containing the soy wax is placed inside it. The wax is melted with the use of the boiling water’s heat, this helps prevent fires. The double burner is heated until the wax has melted evenly.

To help avoid burning, the wax should only be heated to 150-180 degrees, Fahrenheit temperature. If the wax is heated to a higher temperature it could become yellowish in color.

Color and fragrance can be added once The Candle has fully melted. In adding fragrance to soybean candles a proper ratio is used to avoid it from bleeding. 1.12 ounce of fragrance oil is poured for every 1 pound of soy wax.

The wax should be poured into the mold once it has cooled to 95-110 degrees Fahrenheit. Then the poured candle wax is set aside to cool down. Caution, cooling the wax by placing it in water and pouring it on the mold on a very low temperature will cause cracking of the candle.

Soy wax is best for making Novelty Candles. Since they are softer than regular paraffin wax candles they are not fit for making pillar and Taper Candles. This type of candle requires a strong base to be able to stand freely. Floating Candles can also be made using soy wax but they should not exceed 3 inches in diameter.

Knowing how to make soybean candles is certainly an asset you can be proud of.
