I Followed My Nose to the Promise Land with Scent Machines
Ever walk by your favorite restaurant and envision the most delicious dish the place offers? Scent marketing has been the predominate marketing method for large and small companies for several decades. A person’s sense of smell does not diminish with age like sight or hearing therefore the scent a customer remembers as a child can be duplicated to attract them as an adult. Retail, food industry, and even the finance industry use aromas to attract or make customer feel comfortable in their establishment.
Corporations spread aromas with scent machines increased dispersion. Scent systems are specialized to direct scents in specific directions, at certain times, or every where all the time. It has been proven through science a consumer is more likely to be relaxed when their olfactory system recognizes a familiar scent. Taking a step further consumer purchasing increases when they are relaxed. Creating a peaceful, unique scent trigers a person’s sensory glands, telling the brain they are returning to a familiar location. Simple human nature takes over from there and scent has done its job.
Successful clothing and restaurant companies throughout the world have copyrighted their specialized scent in order to retain customers. Appealing the smell elevates the probability of a consumer remembering a company. Scent systems have been installed on the sides of roads, in the middle of mega cities, and directly outside retail outlets to attract new and returning customers back to brand who treated their nose so well the first time. It is so simple yet so effective.
