Candle making is a fun hobby for alot of people,but some people have taken their candle making to another level, and made a very profitable business from their hobby. A candle is an object which provides light, fragrance or both to any room.
Candles have become very popular, more so for their wonderful aromas, than for their ability to produce light. It’s so very exciting when deciding what type of candle to make and getting your supplies together. The reason being, there is no limit to the shapes, sizes, colors or smells you can make your candles. Ah, the different smell candles have is endless.
However, some people quickly become disappointed and frustrated with the process and give up. Because there are a few common problems that beginners experience when making their candles, but most of the problems they encounter do have quick and easy solutions. This is why it’s recommended that all beginners start with the basic candle making process.
Just remember that candle making is like cooking, in a way. You have your recipe to whatever you may be cooking, so with candles you will also have your recipe to candle making.
To make your candle making fun instead of frustrating, start with making simple candles. This gives you the opportunity to learn the basics, then you can move on to making the types of candles you really want to make. This is also a great opportunity for you to find what works best with your work environment and it will give you the chance to make necessary changes.
Candle making supplies aren’t expensive so use the best quality you can find. If you use good quality supplies in your candle making process, this will help to ensure your candles will form and burn properly.
The Candle making process is easy to follow if you take your time and learn from your mistakes. Once you have the basics down, you will start to relax and the process will become natural to you.
Good safety habits is a very important part of candle making. The temperature of the hot wax can cause severe burns. There is also the risk of fire. So make sure your candle making area is set up properly and that you have a fire extinguisher in the area that you are making candles. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
The first few steps you’ll want to take in making candles is to follow this simple recipe to candle making:
You will need: Alot of safty first (Have a fire extinguisher)
Then: get your supplies and tools together (wax, melting pot,pouring pot, mold, wick, double boiler and whatever other items you will need or want) SET ASIDE
Then get your double boiler for: melting your wax at the proper temperature (Heating the wax to the proper temperature is very important)
Add: scents, colors or both (optional)
Pour wax into mold
Don’t forget the all powerful wick (A wick is placed in the center of the wax before it dries)
cooling process (Don’t rush the cooling process)
Remove candle from mold
Wa la! you have a candle!
It is important to remember that candle making involves some basic concepts. Once you have mastered the basics of candle making, you can experiment with different types of candles. You will have to experiment to find the methods that work best for you and which ones will make The Candles you want. It will take a few tries to complete the steps properly, but give it some time, you can do it.
